It is dark. Way too much of it's beautiful detail is lost in this. You can push the brightness in Apophysis, or change the gradient, but be careful of hot spots. I have found some good results with brightening as an after render process in Gimp2 (which is a free download). You don't say how it is rendered, but if you rendered it as a .png, and added the black background later, you may already be using a post render process that contains the tools you need. Since the work is "corner to corner" you may even be able to pull up the detail with a background layer that is lighter than black. It depends upon the transparency. You might just take a top layer of the transparency, lighten it, and leave it at a lower transparency to allow it to just put some highlights in when placed over the darker layer.
